Rihanna’s Fenty Maison Brings Many Firsts for LVMH

Rihanna has forayed into many creative areas before: music, acting, beauty, fragrances. But now, with the help of LVMH, she can add luxury fashion to that list.

Rihanna isn’t unfamiliar with widening her business acumen and making a splash while doing so. In 2017, she launched Fenty Beauty, her own cosmetic brand, with millions of dollars of sales and widespread product sell-outs. She has since created her own lingerie line in collaboration with Savage and collections of sportswear and footwear with Puma. While Rihanna’s boom in cosmetics and casual fashion rages on, she has sought out a new challenge. On May 10th, LVMH announced its first luxury fashion line with the Barbadian singer, Fenty Maison.

Rihanna has worked with LVMH before, as it is the parent brand for her cosmetics line, but this new partnership yields many firsts for the fashion conglomerate. It has never had a woman of color at the head of one of its couture labels. Fenty Maison also marks the first original line from LVMH since 1987. Rihanna will be the preliminary test-subject for entertainment figures leading luxury houses industrywide, marking a signal from the fashion establishment that pop-culture stars can be every bit as influential as big-name designers.

It’s not like she’s untested: year after year, Rihanna’s Puma collections garnered high praise from consumers and critics alike. Consistently ranked as a best-dressed woman, Rihanna will now be influencing fashion through designs for the fashion elite. Whether you’re a fan or not, gear up for Fenty Maison.
