In an extravagant ode to the aspirational French savoir-faire, Maison Viver presents Viv’ Choc Pièce Unique—a one-of-a-kind collection of handbags in honor of Paris’s Fall-Winter 2023 Haute Couture collections. Designed by creative director Gherardo Felloni, the collection embodies the luxury, glamor and magnificence of the city, with each bag drawing unique inspiration from a different iconic element of the City of Lights.
Roger Vivier’s classic Viv’ Choc shape is reimagined in these bejeweled designs, transforming the bag into a must-have for spectacular nights out that call for crystals, sequins, feathers and more. Presented atop a ceramic chandelier inside the sparkling Salle d’Argent of the Maison Vivier, the magic of these purses comes to life – each creation a unique embodiment of embroidery and textiles. In addition to the glistening shimmering of the embroidery and textures, a color palette ranging from dusty, light pinks to strong blue hues anchor the collection in Parisian glamor.
Each bag is tiny in scale, hand-mounted and embroidered entirely by hand. The application represents the brand’s high standard for excellence and quality – from utilizing latticework bugle beading, incorporating crystal tulle mesh and creating clusters of natural pearls, the purses are picturesque works of art. Styles such as the Avenue de Nuit and Blue Velvet feature over 2,000 applications, while some styles such as the electric cobalt Crystal feature nearly 7,000. Features from the Roger Vivier archives are incorporated into the collection, as well as historical nods – the kaleidoscope-inspired Caterina de’ Medici style features a meticulous arrangement of real pearls, as the Colibri is inspired by the timeless elegance of Monsieur Vivier’s 1959 “Choc” heel.
The Josephine’s hand-applied ostrich feathers evoke the glamorous costumes of the Paris Opéra Ballet as the Mistinguett similarly mimics the soft ballet tutus of the dancers. Parisian culture and grace are thus incorporated into the whimsical, distinctive collection, creating a showcase of Parisian glamor and a new ode to the Ville Lumière.
