Ruslan Baginskiy Opens Beachy Pop-Up in Paris

“A piece of the sea, some sand, pure feelings”

Kyiv-based headwear designer, Ruslan Baginskiy, has created a beach getaway in the middle of Rue de la Sourdiere in Paris with his first-ever Pop-Up Store.

Returning to the city two years after his first Parisian event, the debut of his couture collection at the Crillon Hotel, Baginskiy looked towards a fresh start. Bringing over ten team members from the Ukraine – and a star-studded cast of supermodels, actors and stylists – the designer took over the entire first floor of the Paradise Garage store.

Following a year of presenting collections on Zoom, Baginskiy was eager to create a vibrant summer experience for his customers. While it would have been difficult to display the Spring-Summer 2021 Collection (and provide the first drop of the Resort 2022 Collection) on the beach, the designer’s innovative solution was to bring the beach into the city. What better way to host a Parisian reunion than surrounded by sand dunes inside of an indie store in the first arrondissement?

“It has been too long time since we met,” said Baginskiy. “After a year and a half we are beyond excited to meet our friends again, to raise a glass to our reunion and to the first RB Pop Up store in Paris.”

The theme of the store was inspired by Baginskiy’s childhood memories of vacations at the Black Sea, where his family couldn’t afford real straw hats and instead made them on their own out of newspapers. In the Pop-Up, not only do straw hats and piles of sand fill the space with warm nostalgia of childhood beach days, but a straw RB logo is featured in the display case.

Guests of the store, in collaboration with #RBTeam, include top models Natalia Vodianova and Sasha Luss. There was no shortage of talent present at the Pop-Up, with Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford, singer and actress Soko, as well as actors Renata Litvinova, Emmanuelle Béart and Nicolas Maury in attendance. The star-studded list also included creative director Patou Guillaume Henry, Harper’s Bazaar Russia editor-in-chief Daria Veledeeva, stylist and Vogue Russia contributor Yulia Arfush-Lobova and stylist Ashley Weston.
