Equal parts grit and glam, New York City’s Meatpacking District just earned a newest addition to the latter. Amidst the cobblestone streets and industrial zones turned nightclubs, Saint Laurent reveals their newest store, a two-level space offering men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, accessories and fine jewelry.
A mix of mid-century and Bauhaus, the store stands as the House’s largest in New York, reflecting the latest design concepts of Saint Laurent’s creative director, Anthony Vaccarello. Form follows function, as plush carpets, corduroy concrete and black mirror walls grant the space a practical fluidity, and the limited color palette of earthy browns and black compliment the gilded marble walls. A black wood winding staircase peels onto the first floor, reminiscent of a stylishly in-tune serpent opting for minimalism over max.
Heralded as a champion of Parisian chic, Saint Laurent delivers a refined decadence pierced with edgy accents, so it’s only fitting that their newest store follows similar codes. Among the tans and taupes, travertino and cipolino marble morph into the chiseled slabs that comprise a set of benches, chairs and tables, while a curated collection of vintage furniture — Gustav Stickley, Francis Jourdain, Frank Lloyd Wright and more — punctuates each room.
The store is located at 72 Gansevoort Street. Additional standalone Saint Laurent store locations in New York City include 3 East 57 Street and 80 Greene Street.
