Salina Killa Drops Musical TikTok Collaboration
The multi-hyphenate’s second single is called “Permit to Cry.”
This Friday, TikTok superstar Salina Killa dropped her latest single, “Permit to Cry.” The ethereal track was first teased on the artist’s page on March 30, when she released a 15-second video lip-syncing to the song in characteristically creepy clown makeup. A follow-up to the self-described e-boy king’s first single, “Done 4 The Night” (a paean she dubbed “a sad song for a sad girl”), “Permit to Cry” also features Killa’s e-girl influencer colleague, Emmy Hartman.
The 22-year-old, whose real name is Salina Johns, boasts 1.6 million followers and nearly 60 million likes on TikTok. She originally hails from Okinawa, Japan, and started producing content on TikTok just last summer.
Building on her TikTok-native release strategy, the St. Louis resident has a third single in the offing—“Cocaine in the 80s,” a sneak preview of which racked up over half a million hits in March. “It’s about to over for ya’ll [sic] when she starts releasing her music,” an excited follower commented on the video, to which Salina Killa replied, “Periodt.”
“Permit to Cry” is available to stream everywhere on Friday, June 26.
