Sam Smith Releases Third Studio Album, ‘Love Goes’
The “proper heartbreak” record features Burna Boy, Labrinth, Normani, and more.
Releasing music at such a weird time has caused a mix of emotions for the singer, Sam Smith.
Especially being such a personal project, finding the perfect time to release their third studio album, Love Goes has been a feat.
Love Goes is what Sam would describe as a first “proper heartbreak” record. The artist revealed in a statement to Apple Music, “I’d say [this was] the first proper time I’ve been actually heartbroken. That feeling of they’re gone, you can’t sleep, the really, really bad feeling.”
Making us reminisce on all the other hit breakup and love songs Smith has created, they continue, “The others were the idea of it and it was pure unrequited love. This… I would like to say that we loved each other. So, I definitely, definitely loved him. So yeah, it was proper.”
Reflecting on their time of experimentation, the album is a true culmination of the past two years. Sam Smith expressed, “…I feel super emotional about [the album] because … the last two years have been a really, really mad time of experimentation, of finding myself with my gender expression, with so much that has happened the last two years. It’s captured in this music.”
The project consists of 17 songs distributed amongst Disc 1 and Disc 2. The record starts out with the lead single “Young.” The truthful lyrics, “I wanna be wild and young / and not be afraid to lose. Cry on my own / Me and my bottle” lure listener in…
