Director Stephen Gaghan has added yet another five-star talent to his Doctor Doolittle reboot called The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle, with Robert Downey Jr. billed as the doctor himself. Selena Gomez will be joining Spiderman's Tom Holland, Beauty and the Beast's Emma Thompson, and Harry Potter's Ralph Fiennes as voice actors in this project set to be released May 24, 2019. They will join Antonio Banderas and Martin Sheen as Doolittle's animal companions.

Following the same premise as its predecessors, the film will focus on a doctor who is able to communicate with animals. Beyond that, the story's plot has been kept under wraps. And while various renditions of the story exist, the most memorable one starred comedian Eddie Murphy in 1998, nearly 20 years ago.

This would be Gomez's third time voicing a character in an animated or live-action movie (she voiced Mavis in Hotel Transylvania and Hotel Transylvania 2).
