The old money versus new money fashion debate has been raging through social media for a while now. However, Louis Vuitton’s newest collection mixes old traditions with new styles epitomizing wealth, while, even, having a prerequisite for interest—sailing. 

Louis Vuitton unveils its capsule collections in honor of securing the lead sponsorship with the 37th America’s Cup Barcelona sailing race. The collection will be released on July 18, 2024, and reveal an interpreted new logo for the collection, a graphic V originally designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton in the 1920s. The men and women capsule collections feature a substantially color blocked red, white, and blue items, feeding into vivid days and nights on the sea. 

The America’s Cup was established in 1851, earning the title as the oldest international sporting trophy. Since 1983, Louis Vuitton has sponsored the competition, when it began hosting the Louis Vuitton Cup—a prerequisite race that qualifies teams for the America’s Cup. In 2024, the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, will take place in Barcelona from August 29th to October 27th. The defending champion Emirates Team New Zealand will race against the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup, battled between the USA, Switzerland, Italy, France, and the UK.

The special collection is divided into three categories: “Riding the Waves” is for technical silhouettes that will allow for exactly what the name implies. The line features a magnitude of windbreakers and coastal jackets, accompanied by one of Louis Vuitton’s several logos for this occasion. As for the line’s red and pink coastal trousers, they feature a front zip, while the braces can be adjusted to ensure a comfortable fit.

“A Day on the Deck” offers a multitude of sportswear and casual attire. One button down short sleeve shirt features a black and white graphic looking up at the sails. From sweatpants to jean shorts, this collection has any clothing item you may need to enjoy the sun on the sea. 

Finally the last category is an “Elegant Summer Evening” for evening wear. For the ladies, a one shoulder white dress or black square necked dress is strapped by gold and silver studded belts. For the gentlemen, black flared slacks are paired with a double breasted four button suit jacket. 

Accessories include a sailor sling bag, nautical tie or bandeau, baseball caps, and sunglasses, in addition to a selection of city bags with the America’s Cup insignia. 

Louis Vuitton’s 37th America’s Cup Barcelona capsule collections will launch online and in stores on July 18.
