The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers is growing by the year ever since it first launched in 2014. Going into its fifth year, LVMH received over 1300 applications from over 90 countries worldwide, and only 20 designers have made the shortlist for the semifinals, which was revealed this morning. Major rising brands like Eckhaus Latta and Matthew Adams Dolan are nominated for the first time, while 2017 finalists GmBH and Charles Jeffery Loverboy appear on the shortlist once again.

The selection committee is headed by Delphine Arnault, who said, in part, "Each year, more young designers from all over the world are inspired by the Prize. For the 2018 edition, we have selected 20 young designers from China, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam. ...  Gender-neutral fashion, already present in former editions, has gained considerable ground, thus proving that the Prize echoes the recent evolutions in fashion."

The semifinalists will meet in Paris, where a jury of designers including Marc Jacobs, Clare Waight Keller, and Karl Lagerfeld will select eight finalists on March 1 and 2. LVMH has also enlisted a panel of seasoned experts ranging from fashion editors to models including Pat McGrath, Kendall Jenner, as well as, V's Editor-In-Chief Stephen Gan to assist in the selection process
