Valentino debuted a relaxed FW18 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Knit-heavy and bursting with playful shapes, the collection found ease in romanticism. Pierpaolo Piccioli looked to florals for inspiration, ringing in an earnest collection that celebrates strength and beauty.

The collection tells a tender tale, moving from striking reds to blushing pinks, all met with extraordinary prints. Silhouettes mimic those of delicate flowers. Petalled hems and vegetation-inspired embroidery completed the looks, transforming the runway into a posh garden. With scalloped edges and red-riding hoods, there is a visible lightness and playfulness in the presentation, but the profound sense of sophistication is not lost. Broad shoulder pads and electric pinks embodied the vividness of the '80s but were softened by the delicate, flowing frames.
