From Instagram's Eva Chen to YouTube's Derek Blasberg, tech giants adopting fashion-minded creative directors is a bona fide trend. But when it comes to social media platforms explicitly entering the fashion market, Snapchat has been ahead of the curve, launching Spectacles this past April. Today, the company announced the second generation in that line, two pairs of suped-up wayfarer shades called the "Nico" and the "Veronica."

Like the original Spectacles, the discreetly implanted cameras and polarized lenses allow you to document your surroundings and avoid eye contact all at once. By tapping a button near the temple, devoted snappers can take up to 30-second videos that instantaneously post to users' smartphones, no fumbling with a phone required.  But the Nico and Veronica, named to evoke an air of sophistication, boast an updated, sleek look. While the unisex Nico features a subtle tortoiseshell pattern on the inside and a glossy black on the outside, the larger, slightly more feminine Veronica pair channels Olsen Twins-meets-Mission Impossible vibes.

Designed in-house by Snapchat, The sleek glasses are the latest indicator in Snapchat’s ongoing fashion-forward makeover. Yesterday, it was announced that longtime Vogue editor Selby Drummond would come aboard as a creative director. And you won’t Nico or Veronica at your local Best Buy; you can find the shades at select Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom stores later this fall, and online now.
