Sofia Coppola Toasts New “CHANEL Haute Couture” Book with Chanel’s Inner Circle

Hosted by Chanel, Gracie Abrams, Romy Mars, and Kirsten Dunst joined the starry celebration, raising a glass to the launch of the filmmaker’s latest book

Amidst the kickoff of New York Fashion Week, the Chanel girls began their festivities with a toast to Sofia Coppola’s newest project. Since Chanel’s F/W25 Haute Couture show, where “CHANEL Haute Couture” was unveiled, alongside a Chanel podcast hosted by Coppola, the anticipation of the collaboration has blossomed. Edited by the director herself, the new Chanel book spans the maison’s glamorous universe from the era of Gabrielle Chanel through to Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard.

The night began with an intimate dinner at iconic Doubles Club, where A-listers close to Coppola and the house—Gracie Abrams, Romy Mars, Kirsten Dunst, Iman, Bill Murray, Havana Rose Liu, and more—shared cheers to the director’s second book. Later in the night, DJ Jean d’Armes took over, ushering the stars to the dance floor.

The filmmaker, known for her iconic direction of The Virgin Suicides, has long been akin with the Chanel house. Their association first began in the summer of 1986, when Coppola was just fifteen, working as an intern at Chanel’s Paris studio. Always seated in the front row at the maison’s runways, never not wearing head-to-toe Chanel, Coppola and her daughters have become inseparable from the house—a partnership that shows no signs of slowing.

Cataloged through the 450-page volume, Coppola emphasizes the codes of Chanel—the iconic tweed and the emblematic camellia—through unseen imagery of Chanel’s clientele in the house’s creations, as well as behind-the-scenes documents, editorial and runway photography, and archival illustrations.
