Over the past few weeks, in front of a crowd of twenty thousand people each night at the Sphere, Anyma (Matteo Milleri) has redefined the boundaries of performance, captivating his audiences with his immersive fusion of sound and visuals. As a trailblazer in electronic music, blending melodic techno with ethereal soundscapes, Anyma transports his audience somewhere beyond the scope of reality.

But his boundary-pushing artistry doesn’t stop at music. During the first few weeks of his groundbreaking The End of Genesys residency at the iconic Sphere, Anyma’s futuristic custom garments elevated his performance to new heights. Designed by various artists, these striking outfits seamlessly merged with the themes of his latest album, Genesys II—technology, humanity, nature, and coexistence—turning the stage into a multidimensional masterpiece.

Key pieces featured alluring combinations of leather and metal, evoking a futuristic aesthetic that mirrored his sound and his out-of-this-world set design. Among the standout looks was a black leather biker jacket by 44 Label Group, founded by Berlin DJ Max Kobosil and Milanese entrepreneur Claudio Antonioli. While sleek and understated from the front, the coat revealed hundreds of silver spikes along the spine, creating a dramatic and almost otherworldly visual effect. Paired with matching leather pants, the ensemble exuded a powerful, ominous energy.

Other custom designs created by Nikita Replyanski x Ekaterina Belaya and Marlon Ferry also played on this theme, incorporating spine-like elements into leather jackets adorned with intricate metallic accents. The use of these materials gives an essence of futuristic presentation that accompanies Anyma’s exploration of particular themes in his music and set design.

The use of spinal distinction in the garments’ designs plays on grotesque fashion—marked by exaggerated, unconventional, and surreal design. Many designers use the grotesque in their work to challenge traditional beauty standards and body ideals, just as Anyma music defies conventional boundaries. This cohesion between Matteo Milleri’s looks at the Sphere and his overall performance and music would have created an even more transcendent and visceral feeling for his audience.

The interplay between avant-garde fashion and Anyma’s visionary soundscapes amplified the visceral, transcendent experience for his audience. Together, these elements created a performance that was as much a sensory journey as a showcase of innovation and artistry.
