Spotify Has Revealed Its Top Global Songs of the Summer

Olivia Rodrigo is now officially the summer queen.

The end of the summer is near (though it still certainly doesn’t feel like it), which means by now we can already have an idea of which songs have marked 2021’s warmest season, serving as the soundtrack for backyard barbecues, beach trips, and hanging out by the pool. To make it official, Spotify has unveiled a list of the top 25 tracks that its users have kept virtually spinning for the past three months – between May 29 and August 22, to be exact.

Unsurprisingly, the top spot belongs to Olivia Rodrigo’s smash breakup hit “good 4 u,” which amassed over 600 million streams during the period. The song was the number one track globally and the top track in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Ireland, Singapore, the U.K., South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. According to Spotify, since it was released on May 14, “good 4 u” has been added to more than 18 million playlists.

The singer also landed five other tracks on the list: “deja vu,” traitor,” “happier,” “favorite crime,” and, of course, “drivers license.”

The list is filled with other global TikTok hits, including Eurovision winner and rock sensation Måneskin’s “Beggin’,” followed by Rauw Alejandro’s “Todo De Ti.” Completing the top-five section, listeners enjoyed Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name),” the first single of the musician’s upcoming album Montero, and Doja Cat and SZA’s “Kiss Me More.”
