Three-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Maxwell joined forces with luxury eyewear brand STATE Optical Co. to create a limited-edition sunglass style. The collaboration pays homage to Maxwell’s first album “Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite,” with a new style titled REUNION.

Drawing inspiration from Maxwell’s neo-soul music, REUNION’s design is effortlessly elegant. The statement-making sunglasses are available in smoky blue with brown lenses and matte black with blue gradient lenses.

“I called the first pair REUNION because the world has been divided in so many ways… digital, geopolitical, gender discrimination, you name it, it’s happening, and it has to stop,” says Maxwell. “REUNION is a promise, if not a guarantee, that we can come back together as the closing of the song clearly says ‘we’re back together.’”

In line with Maxwell’s values, a portion of the collaboration’s proceeds will be donated to the Vision Council’s Open Your Eyes Scholarship (O-YES). This foundation seeks to uplift Black and brown communities by providing resources to aspiring opticians. Through scholarships, internships, and mentorship, O-YES supports the next generation of eye doctors.
