Designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyzk of Area expand their horizons, unveiling their first Haute Couture collection on January 28, 2021. In collaboration with Swarovski, the duo is scheduled to deliver 14 breathtaking looks, encrusted with over half a million of the household crystals. Renowned for their feminine silhouettes and high-octane embellishments, Area Couture continues to embrace a love for 80s glamour and delivers creations even further beyond the boundaries of crystal constructions in fashion. 

“We wanted to push the boundaries of what’s possible with creating with crystal even further. We collaborated closely with Swarovski and they provided us with the most beautiful stones to realize our couture dream,” said Fogg & Panszcyzk. 

Truly a sight for sore eyes, from accordion dresses and multi-color drapes, to crystal crochet, the collection showcases Area’s artistic craftsmanship and mastery of crystal.  It’s safe to say that Area has grown well beyond its Downtown roots. Their foray into Haute Couture is an extension of the brand’s signature style, enraptured in whimsical and inherently glamorous garments.

Models posed against what appears to be an aluminum wrapped backdrop, that only complemented the glistening gems. Each look was topped off with intricate helicoid accoutrements placed along the foreheads and high-rise cheekbones of each model, becoming sculptures in their own right. Accessories animate each look and are equally sensational paired with the bewildering clothing.

While the pandemic continues to force people into isolation and extended lockdowns, Area and Swarovski deliver a slice of escapism to the home-ridden. To live vicariously through these shimmers and sparkles offers a moment of excitement and joy in these trying times.
