Hide your wigs and your coins because SZA is ready to snatch them both. Following her set at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse festival last night, which included a surprise cameo by fellow headliner Cardi B, the V113 cover star dropped yet another surprise: that she’s currently hard at work on a follow-up to her 2017 smash CTRL—and it could arrive before the end of the year.

In an interview backstage with the NYC-based radio station, SZA vowed that the album would be even more personal than her last. “This time that’s my only focus, I just want it to be better than before. Maybe not even better but it's whatever. I want it to be 100 percent honest to whoever I am in this moment. Because that is the only way it will work,” she said. “But I just personally think now it’s just about getting to the root of who I am. But faster, clearer, more concisely. Like just learning the understanding of self.”

It’s an ambitious promise, given the intimate, confessional style of CTRL, which focused on themes like anxiety, insecurity and loneliness. But with a voice like SZA’s, we’re happy to just keep listening.
