Take a Trip to ‘HelmutLand’ in Helmut Lang’s Playful Space Voyage Video

The fictional destination promotes the fashion brand’s latest Fall/Winter 2020 capsule.

Helmut Lang is promoting their latest “launch” – in every sense of the word – with some help from PZ Opassuksatit. The artist was tapped by the luxury fashion brand for a second time to promote their latest Fall/Winter 2020 capsule collection, “HelmutLand.” The campaign video shows a fictional voyage through space as a playful take on escapism, featuring futuristic graphics and an unforgettable mouse mascot. The surreal trip might just be the imaginary vacation we all need right now.

The five-minute video is essentially PZ Opassuksatit’s take on astronaut how-to guides, organized into three vignettes highlighting the voyage on a ‘95 rocket. Each video illustrates how to do normal activities in “space,” including washing your hair, making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and preparing for landing on the fictional destination, “HelmutLand.”

While the journey isn’t quite a viable option for those currently dreaming of taking off to another planet, the “HelmutLand” collection provides us with some solid souvenirs. Celebrating the brand’s iconic style, the collection includes graphics of archive pieces like the painted cowboy boots and summer camp tank to create futuristic-inspired designs. The mouse mascot on a green knitted sweater, as well as t-shirts and hoodies with the phrase “WELCOME TO HelmutLand New York,” are some of the collection’s memorable pieces.

Priced between $175-$495, the collection is now available at Helmut Lang stores and HelmutLang.com.
