Chloë Sevigny has never followed the scent of convention. She moves through culture like a quiet storm—part downtown legend, part modern muse—forever rewriting what it means to be effortlessly cool. It’s only fitting, then, that she is the face of Miu Miu’s new fragrance, Miutine, which carries her imprint: mischievous, magnetic, and unafraid to contradict itself. Conceived by perfumer Dominique Ropion as a “sweet rebellion bottled,” Miutine is Miu Miu’s irreverent ode to women who know the rules and choose to unmake them. Notes of wild strawberry, brown sugar, gardenia, and oakmoss blur the line between softness and subversion.

Shot by Petra Collins, the Miutine campaign reintroduces Miu Miu Beauty through three distinct voices—Sevigny, tennis champion Coco Gauff, and model-writer Paloma Elsesser—each embodying the irreverent, multifaceted spirit of the fragrance. For Sevigny, who first fronted a Miu Miu campaign in 1996, the partnership feels less like a comeback than a continuation.

We sat down with Chloë to talk about scent as self-expression, the quiet power of contradictions, and how Miutine fits into her ever-evolving creative world.

V Magazine: What drew you to Miutine as a fragrance – and what made the idea of being a U.S. Ambassador feel right for you?

Chloe Sevigny: Miutine immediately felt playful and unexpected, which is really what drew me in. It feels bold and distinctive. Being a U.S. ambassador felt like a wonderful continuation of my relationship with Miu Miu, which has been a part of my life and career since the 90’s.

V: This scent blends wild strawberry, brown sugar, gardenia, and vanilla – do any of those notes bring up a specific memory or remind you of a certain era in your life?

CS: Brown sugar and vanilla feel nostalgic, like being in a kitchen with friends or family. I’ve always loved floral notes as well, so I love how vibrant the gardenia is against the sweeter notes.

V: How does embodying Miutine as a U.S. Ambassador reflect your own evolution – both personally and creatively – over the years?

CS: I imagine the Miutine girl as someone who’s confident but doesn’t care about fitting into a box. She’s a little irreverent, curious, and follows her own rules. I relate to that a lot; I’ve always gravitated toward things that feel offbeat or a little unexpected, whether in fashion, art, or just everyday life.

V: How do you blend scent with fashion, and what role does scent play in your life as a whole?

CS: Scent can change how you feel in an outfit or even shift the energy of a room. For me, it’s less about matching and more about creating a mood, a subtle signature. Miutine feels like that. It’s playful, a little unpredictable, and entirely its own thing, just like how I approach style.
