When it comes to handbags, the word “iconic” gets thrown around fairly indiscriminately. But the Telfar Shopping Bag, with its raised logo and sleek construction, safely lives up to the superlative. With an army of fans including model Paloma Elsesser and singer Kelela, who calls it her single most prized possession, the bag has become one of the brand’s most sought-after pieces. Today, the brand is relaunching the bag, which debuted in 2014, with a characteristically inclusive campaign.

Shot by June Canedo and styled by Avena Gallagher, the campaign enlists a well-curated cast of characters from Telfar's its diverse orbit of friends and collaborators, featuring everyone from model and musical scion Selah Marley (whose mother, Lauryn Hill, recently appeared in a campaign of her own for Woolrich) to body positivity activist fatfemme to Mission Chinese cofounder Danny Bowien.

The inclusive range of models reflects the brand’s socially conscious approach to fashion; since its founding in 2005, Telfar Clemens has used his eponymous brand to advance progressive values, from prison abolition to unisex clothing and accessories. The aptly named Shopping Bag, offered in small, medium and large, has become the accessible flagship item of the directional line—and was once sold out for six months.
