The 77th Venice Film Festival Saw The Best of Giorgio Armani’s Fashion Moments
Cate Blanchett, Anna Foglietta, Roberta Armani, and more.
While the ongoing pandemic has forced most social functions off the calendar this year, pilloried as “super-spreader” events, the Venice International Film Festival has snubbed the virtual simulacra and otherwise unsatisfactory digital stand-ins for physical gatherings, and shored up a socially distant red carpet amidst the chaos-cum-uncertainty of Covid-19.
The festival’s 77th edition came to a close on Sunday evening, in a ceremony that saw more of Giorgio Armani and his petite mains than Paris Fashion Week this past June. A fantasia of pleated silk tulles, Privé bustiers, sequined organza, and crystal fringe could not seem a more perfect envoi to the week spent on Lido. Explore the fashion moments of Cate Blanchett, Vanessa Kirby, Pierfrancesco Favino, and others below.
President of the jury, Cate Blanchett, luxuriates in Armani’s Privé collection, wearing a black silk bustier dress enhanced by a bodice entirely embroidered in red crystals, and a pleated silk tulle cape, embroidered with crystal inlays of the brand’s tentpole ikat motif.
Volpi cup winner for best actress, Vanessa Kirby, graces the island of Lido in a Giorgio Armani Privé one-shouldered column of black silk velvet.
Italian actor, Stefano Accorsi, makes a Giorgio Armani tuxedo seem indulgently casual amidst the heady glamour.
Italian actress and singer, Serena Rossi, enraptures the cameras in a Emporio Armani bustier dress of black silk jersey and crystal embroidery.
Seen here alongside Blanchett, Roberta Armani wore a Giorgio Armani dress of blue tulle and organza – making for a starkly irresistible pair, posed in crystaled inlays and sequined appliqués.
Pietro Castellitto, winner of best screenplay in the “Orizzonti” section, wore a blue Giorgio Armani suit – the perfect complement to his award.
Volpi cup winner for best actor, Pierfrancesco Favino, taps timeless, big-screen glamour in a Giorgio Armani black tuxedo.
Italian singer-songwriter, Diodato, wore a black Emporio Armani suit to the 77th closing ceremony.
Godmother of the Festival, Anna Foglietta, wore a Privé bustier dress of silk organza and crinoline, embroidered with crystal fringes and tiered in blue flounces.
