The Met Gala takes place each year on the first Monday of every May, and it’s one of the biggest nights in Fashion. Designers, models, celebrities, icons, muses, and photographers all come together to raise money for the Met Museum’s Costume Institute.

The event is held to coincide with the Met’s newest fashion exhibition. Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s Head Curator, continues to surpass himself every year with last years Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination exhibition the most successful to-date. Previous themes have included, China, Punk and Savage Beauty (an homage to and retrospective of the late Alexander McQueen). The theme for this year’s exhibition is Camp: Notes on Fashion and is co-chaired by Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

With so much press attention and social media coverage all of the attendees fully embrace each year’s theme, with looks ranging from the literal to avant-garde. It’s perhaps the best opportunity to dress up and make a statement.
