The Chanel 19 Bag: Introducing Chanel’s Latest Accessory

The bag may be a recent addition, but it still feels classically Chanel.

Following its debut on the Fall-Winter 2019/20 Ready-to-Wear runway show created by Karl Lagerfeld and Virginie Viard, the Chanel 19 handbag is already a classic. The name, after all, is a reference to the 2.55 bag, which was made in 1955 by Mademoiselle Chanel, hence the bag’s title being the year of its creation. Furthermore, the designer behind the item is the late and iconic designer, Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away earlier this year before the showcasing of the shows he was a part of.

Similar to many of Chanel bags, the Chanel 19 comes in three varying sizes. It is quilted, either on leather or tweed with a metal and leather interlaced chain and has the unmistakable double C logo as a fastener. One thing that stands out most about the bag is the ability of wearing it however you want. Sling it over one shoulder, or drape across the body. Hold it with the gold chain. Wear the “belt bag” version around the waist.

The options of colors the bag comes in are as numerous as its modes of wear: black, beige, white, blue, green, red and pink. It is a bag that is both classic but innovative for now, a relaxed, yet sophisticated item that can be turned from a belt bag to a cross shoulder bag. Tout simplement, the bag may be new, but the versatility and simplicity make it typical Chanel.
