The Dandy Goes to the Beach for Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2027

Louis Vuitton’s Paris show and subsequent Spring-Summer 2027 collection bring Pharrell’s dandy silhouette to surf and sunshine

When you think of the beach, the first things that come to mind are crashing waves, radiant sunshine, and chic swimsuits—but not at Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring-Summer 2027 show in Paris.

The moons, waves, and Parisian lights came together perfectly to set the scene as the collection came to life. A silver camper van, translated into a unique design language, was parked at the show, highlighting a surfer’s adventure constantly dictated by the waves.

Professional surfers Mikey February and Julian Wilson were cinematically introduced to the audience as guests in Paris were met by the crashing of a wave, immersing them in the cadence of the sea. The staging was certainly hyper-sensory and immersive for notable attendees like Jeremy Allen White, Missy Elliott, and Victor Wembanyama.

From the mind of Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams, the collection embraces his signature dandy silhouette, evoking unconventional elegance and finesse. Williams has recognized the influence skateboarding has had on him in the past, and now surfing is stepping into center stage.

Inspired by the surfing lifestyle and the people endlessly chasing waves, the collection blends Louis Vuitton’s traditional tailoring with the aesthetics of surf and skate culture. As most surfers slip into wetsuits, the ocean essential is reimagined within Louis Vuitton’s new looks, alongside performance-infused suiting fabrics and hand-spun textures adorned with sea-inspired details.

Designs also play with illusions of texture and touch, bright acid colors, and checkerboard patterns. It is as if someone gathered all the weathered, mended, worn-in materials from a surfer’s everyday wardrobe, though elevated through intricate handwork, surface embellishments, and meticulous attention to detail.

As part of its Regeneration 2030 sustainability roadmap, Louis Vuitton is supporting Coral Gardeners to aid reef restoration in French Polynesia. The initiative will outplant 1,000 corals, and 250 square meters of reef habitat are expected to be restored in 2026.

By no means is it the board shorts and swim trunks typically associated with surf culture; instead, Williams reimagines his dandy in a more coastal, surf-inspired ensemble, launching Louis Vuitton into a more fully realized eccentricity.
