A first look of Kristen Stewart from the Princess Diana biopic Spencer has been revealed. As the film begins production in Germany, American production company Neon released a shot from the film showcasing Stewart’s transformation into the beloved late Princess of Wales.

The picture features Stewart gazing mournfully in Diana’s blonde locks, a red coat, and a black hat with a veil. The picture immediately created a buzz on social media as people marveled at how uncanny the resemblance was. This comes after initial criticism over Stewart’s casting for not looking like the subject and for being an American.

Directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight, Spencer focuses on one specific weekend in Princess Diana’s life, when she spends the Christmas holidays with the royal family in Norfolk. That was the weekend when she realized that her marriage to Prince Charles wasn’t working and she wanted to leave him.

The film also stars Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall, and Sean Harris and is expected to be released in Fall 2021.
