To illustrate our V family values, we revisit some of our most scrapbook-worthy clips.

ALIX BROWNE: “As with Playboy, I don’t think anyone really read V “for the interviews,” but looking back I would like to think that this is where my legacy sits. Tom Ford, Miuccia Prada, Helmut Lang…. V was able to sit down with all of the heavy fashion hitters, and for whatever reason, they seemed to speak more open and candidly on our pages than they did anywhere else. Beyond fashion, I was always thrilled when Christopher Bollen would come to me and say, “I want to interview Joan Didion,” or Norman Mailer… In the early days of V, the editors and contributors alike had a platform to really follow their passions, their obsessions—like “What’s New Pussy Cat,” photographed by Inez and Vinoodh, for V24. I think that really came through in the stories we were doing and it’s what made the magazine really stand out.”
