The Miss Dior Pop-up is a Must See for Fashion Week
Miss Dior is a floral extravaganza for anyone in New York.
“Here we’re gonna give you the best experience,” said Chris Dibasquale, a tall brunette man wearing a white Dior emblazoned t-shirt after spraying my arm with Miss Dior, the new fragrance from Christian Dior. The pink perfume was encased in a clear square bottle with a bow around the cap.
Florals were the focus at the pop-up shop in Gansevoort Plaza. Flowers line the building and pour from the trunk of an Instagram-able tan sedan. The building itself was shaped like the Miss Dior bottle, adorned with a ribbon on top. In front, people waited in line to take photos in front of a floral wall with bottles of Miss Dior.
People waiting in lines came from Florida, Mexico, and all over the world. Some pouring into Manhattan for fashion week, others just stumbling through. “I actually saw it on Instagram on one of those New York Bucket List pages,” said Janki Patel. A pair of friends in line happened to be walking by when they found the pop-up, others like Patel came specifically for
Ray Briggs, one of the workers at the pop-up says crowds started gathering on Saturday before the shop was open. The actual start on Monday morning was slow, but picked up by the afternoon, and they ran out of bouquets by 2:30PM.
“It’s extremely important to be out in fashion week right now because it’s the first one since the post-pandemic,” said Madison Jaye, a former high-end stylist turned spiritual journalist. With the return of in-person fashion week, Dior made sure they were being safe. Surfaces were wiped down regularly, and, though the pop-up is technically indoors, the building is not fully closed in.
The theme for New York Fashion Week fall 2021 is #wakeupforlove. “I think that’s just so beautiful,” says Jaye of the hashtag. “It’s so symbolic to the essence of what we just went through, and everything comes back to love.”
Inside the shop you can grab a goodie bag with free samples, collect a flower bouquet (which will be back in stock on Thursday), and a specialty wellness latte adorned with a cinnamon “CD” (mine was oat milk with turmeric and cinnamon). Along with freebies you can take pictures in the 360-degree mirror, at the makeup counter, or in any of the other Instagram-able spots.
The pop-up will be running from September 13-16. You can buy a bottle of Miss Dior there for anywhere between $82-$138 depending on size. If you can’t make it into the pop-up, the Sephora across the street is also hosting a Dior event with free tote bags.
Miss Dior is a sweet and floral way to brighten up this fall. The pop-up encapsulates the smell of the perfume through its visual aesthetic while being a fun experience to do alone or with friends.
