When you think of Dior an obvious image comes to mind: playful depictions of monsters and an enchanting childlike allure. No? Well, you just might find your perceptions transformed after delving into Dior’s latest collaboration with the renowned Japanese sculptor, Otani Workshop.

The capsule menswear collection is the brainchild of Kim Jones, the Artistic Director of Dior Menswear. Introducing Otani’s playful ‘little green monster’ motif, the collection mixes the functionality of menswear street fashion with Otani’s signature world of fantasy. From paintings to sculptures, Otani’s bulbous creatures truly have a spirit of their own.

The miniature monster, named Tanilla after Otani, bares its teeth, evokes a sense of whimsy rather than fright. Tanilla is embroidered alongside Dior’s logo that has been transformed into a whimsical scribble.

The 24-piece Dior & Otani Workshop collection features a multitude of layering options. Sweaters with the new Dior logo knit across the arm while Tanilla is seated on a chair on the back, t-shirts with Tanilla popping out of the pocket, and bomber jackets with Dior scribbled across the back illustrate the clear storytelling of the collection.
