The Most Compelling Collections From the Polimoda Graduate Show 2026

Graduates turned to grief, identity, memory, and belonging, using fashion as a way to make sense of the experiences that shape humanity

Since its founding in Florence in 1986, Polimoda has established itself as one of fashion’s leading institutions, championing an approach that places equal emphasis on technical excellence, creative experimentation, and critical thinking. Its annual graduate show has long served as a window into the ideas, concerns, and cultural conversations shaping the next generation of designers. More than a showcase of craftsmanship, it offers insight into how emerging creatives are responding to the world around them. This year, the most striking aspect of the Polimoda Graduate Show 2026 was the degree of personal investment embedded within the work.

Across eighteen collections, fashion examined grief, identity, belonging, memory, and transformation. Likewise, family histories, cultural heritage, childhood memories, and formative relationships served as recurring points of departure, with garments becoming tools for exploring the tension between inheritance and self-definition. Questions of place emerged throughout the show, with several designers reflecting on the influence of geography, community, and environment, and on how the places they grew up in shaped their perspectives.
