Givenchy’s newest handbag for women, MYSTIC, was first seen in the French luxury house’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection. Artistic director Clare Waight Keller was inspired by Joseph Campbell’s The Power of Myth, where MYSTIC’s name seems to have originated.

The MYSTIC’s body is fine calfskin and opens to reveal a compartment lined in suede. The current color range includes black, natural, desert, storm grey, aubergine, pale pink, and yellow. The option of accessorizing with extra large gold finish charms including dice, whistles, and medals allows for further customization.

The bag simultaneously combines sophistication and softness. A V-shaped flap covers its sculptural shoulders, and lifting the flap reveals a closure and gold double G plate. This slight concealment lends itself to the bag’s overall sense of discreetness, as its structured silhouette reflects both power and restraint. The MYSTIC’s elegant shape makes the bag versatile for a variety of looks, and an adjustable strap allows the bag to be worn as either a cross-body or hand-carry.

Givenchy’s MYSTIC bag is now available online and in select stores. The pieces range from $2,990 to $3,790 and are available in small and medium sizes. The style will continue into fall with additional skins and color ways.
