In most parts of the world, Blue = boy. But, that wasn’t always the case. Blue was originally assigned as a feminine color because of the delicateness of its nature, only becoming a signifier of masculinity in the past century. For Valentino’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2024 Collection, Pierpaolo Piccioli seeks to reclaim blue’s gentle essence to reflect the modern man. Embracing softness, fluidity, and delicacy, the collection challenges conventional notions of manhood, emphasizing strength in exploration.

The collection, named “Le Ciel,” after the sky, begins with the neutrals that plague traditional menswear, sporadically disrupted by bursts of color—as if the wearer is yearning to break free. Then suddenly, there is an eruption of blue and other vibrant colors such as red, green, and orange.

Layers take center stage, often featuring contrasting turtlenecks to accentuate each element. Overcoats showcase intricate cut-outs resembling floral lace appliqués, while mythological figures are elegantly translated into intarsia across tailored pieces.

Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2024 Collection exudes a sense of relaxation and comfort, embodying the gentle nature that defines the modern man’s wardrobe and becoming a narrative of timeless human values.
