For Spring 2026, Saint Laurent brings back the Mombasa bag, first introduced in the early 2000s, at a time when accessories were beginning to take on a more expressive role. Debuting in Spring/Summer 2002 under the creative direction of Tom Ford, the bag reflected a broader shift at the house toward sensuality and a more visible approach to glamour. What set the Mombasa apart was its construction: the curved horn handle, silhouette, and supple leather allowed the bag to collapse and reform with movement, adapting to the body instead of holding a fixed shape.
Now, as the Mombasa returns for Spring 2026, that same relationship between object and body is foregrounded in the accompanying campaign. Directed by Glen Luchford and fronted by Bella Hadid, Saint Laurent’s longtime muse, the imagery presents the bag worn close to the body, reinforcing its instinctive ease and everyday functionality.

That original approach remains central to the current iteration. The Mombasa retains its relaxed shoulder carry and natural slouch, qualities that allow the bag to change subtly depending on how it is worn. When carried, the leather folds inward and creases organically, emphasizing use over display, while the handle sits comfortably in the hand or over the shoulder.
Function has been expanded without altering the overall form. Offered in three sizes: large, medium, and small, the larger versions are designed to accommodate everyday essentials while maintaining the same soft profile. Inside, a zipped interior pocket adds practicality, while the suede calfskin lining introduces a tactile contrast to the exterior leather.
