The Standard Hotel’s Valentine’s Day Candle Everyone is Going Crazy For

They’re the sexiest candles you’ve ever seen.

As the temperatures dip outside, we’re turning up the heat inside and nothing does the trick like these sensual Him & Hannah candles. Just in time for Valentine’s Day and designed exclusively in collaboration with The Standard and Bonam Kim, the set of romantic red candles draw inspiration from classical Hellenistic sculpture and are quite easy on the eyes, dare we say. These bodies look chiseled by the Greek gods and goddesses themselves.

Each candle is handcrafted in Brooklyn, NY by sculptor Bonam Kim in partnership with Prospect. The deep red color is a nod to the spectrum of love, be it personal self-love or intimate. The sexy sculptures are ready for flame with an 8 hour burning time and a composition of 100% organic bee and soy wax.

The “Him” candle, Kim explains, is in reference to no specific person but rather “anyone you feel attracted to. That significant other.” Instead of using the predictable “her” to accompany “Him”, Kim named the female sculpture “Hannah” for its plethora of positive connotations across cultures, including “one”, “heavenly grace” and “flower”.

“I wanted to have a name that was both personal and universal, that crossed both borders and languages, in order to express a sense of humanity, harmony, and beauty,” Kim says. “Hannah is a name that is expressed totally in Korean characters. That for me was also a plus, a way to be universal while still honoring my culture.”
