The Strokes Drop New Album ‘The New Abnormal’

The band’s first album in seven years sees nine tracks and “Bird On Money” by Jean-Michel Basquiat as it’s cover art.

Since the early 2000’s, the Strokes have been keeping rock ‘n roll alive and well. The New York-based indie/garage rock band—consisting of Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr., Fabrizio Moretti, Nick Valensi, and Nikolai Fraiture—continue their legacy with The New Abnormal, the Strokes’ first album in 7 years and the sixth in their discography.

With nine tracks and “Bird On Money” by Jean-Michel Basquiat as it’s cover art, The New Abnormal has an ’80s feel while a few songs nod to Billy Idol and the Psychedelic Furs, according to the album’s Pitchfork review. The Strokes also feature their New York roots with tracks like “Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus” and “Ode To The Mets.”
