Circa 2010 was all about mustache sunglasses, skinny jeans and Aéropostale t-shirts, but we can never forget about the eyebrow craze. I especially cannot because I couldn't relate then, and even more so now. Due to my naturally sparse brows, I’ve gone through one too many eyebrow products in hopes that one day they will be thick and bold. While on my quest for the perfect product, I’ve experienced many highs and also many, many lows. Just ask my high school classmates—I had caterpillars for eyebrows up until my junior year. (Actually, let’s forget that ever happened.)
I know I will never have Brooke Shields’ brows, but that doesn’t mean I can’t attempt to have them. If you’re like me, you appreciate the convenience of a product that allows you to create a natural look one day, and an extremely eye-catching one the next. However, not many products, especially for the brows, are that versatile. Lucky for you, I’ve gathered a few brow products that will make you stand out, but in a very good way.
A double-ended eyebrow pencil that defines the brows and boosts color. The tip of the pencil is at a slant, which allows you to create hair-like strokes while filling sparse areas. It is also the perfect shape to add dimension to the brows without overfilling. We love that it is cruelty-free, and has a long-wearing formula so your brows can stay intact all day. A bonus is the spoolie on the opposite end that creates a natural-looking effect once blended.
Meant to provide soft, natural looking brows, this Rare Beauty brow putty glides smoothly on the skin, has a powdered finish and is waterproof. The compact comes with two complimentary colors that should mimic your brows’ natural tones. It also comes with a mini angled applicator that has a hidden spoolie on the opposite side. Apparently this product won’t smudge, fade or rub off, so go ham on the dance floor when wearing it.
Boy Brow is a name we all know and love, but an underrated brow product from Glossier is the Brow Flick. I personally love its formula because it is lightweight, smudge proof and natural-looking. The brush of this product reminds me of a felt-tip pen, except a pen that is meant to create feather-like strokes on the brows. You can either use it to bolden your brows, or like me, use it to easily fill sparse areas. The pigment itself is somewhat sheer, so you don’t have to worry about replicating my 2016 brows with it.
We all know that Anastasia Beverly Hills is the queen of brows, which is why her brand deserves to be on this list. Brow Freeze is most likely a product you’ve seen trending on your TikTok feed because of its ability to lift, tame and sculpt brows all in one. The translucent wax is mess-free in case you have those days where you want to use a little bit extra. And no matter the thickness of your brow hair, it still provides full-looking brows that lasts throughout the day.
Brow health is just as important to your makeup look, which is why I recommend this ophthalmologist-tested and approved serum if you’re looking to improve the appearance of your brows. This is another popular product on TikTok because of its ability to promote fuller brows in just six to eight weeks. Some of its ingredients include Amino Acids (L-Proline), Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) and Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) to thoroughly hydrate and condition the brows.
Feathered and laminated brows are more popular than ever, and thanks to Makeup By Mario, the look is more achievable than ever. The brows are easily lifted, sculpted and budge-proof with the help of the clear lightweight gel. Plus, the gel has actives meant to condition and strengthen the brows. The product also has a dual-ended brow brush that is meant to pick up the right amount of product on one side, and flawlessly comb the brows on the other.
Microblading is another popular technique right now, but one that many are afraid to follow through with. This brow pen by Maybelline makes the decision easier, with a unique multi-prong tip that is meant to create hair-like strokes similar to if you were to get your brows microbladed—without the high cost and pain. Like a tattoo, the pen is supposed to be smudge- and transfer-proof. No matter if you have thin brows or a few sparse areas, this is a quick and easy tool to instantly fill those stubborn areas.
If you actually want to laminate your brows, here is your opportunity. There are only four steps you need to follow in order to achieve the feather-like brows you've always wanted. Although you can use brow gel to achieve the look, committing to laminating your brows doesn't required you to apply product everyday. The best part of this kit is not only the additional lash perm solution, but also the fact that you can reuse both solutions up to eight times depending on your brow/lash size.
An eyebrow gel that acts like a tint and lasts for days. And when I say days, I truly mean days because it seems to be everything-proof. To achieve tinted-like brows, you only have to comb through each hair with the applicator it comes with. The pigment itself contains tiny fibers that are supposed to fill-in and sculpt your brows, so you don't have to worry about them looking too blocky. Although it is pretty pigmented, the formula is lightweight, buildable and meant to leave brows natural-looking, soft and groomed.
