Set against the backdrop of Tokyo’s glitzy bubble-era, this new VMAN shoot transports us to the late 1980s, a time when excess and extravagance defined the city’s nightlife. Drawing inspiration from the iconic host clubs of the era, the stylist Shun Watanabe envisioned a cinematic narrative of opulence and allure. Channeling Michelle Pfeiffer’s magnetic presence in Scarface, the shoot reimagines the glamour of a night out in Tokyo, complete with bold silhouettes, shimmering textures, and a palpable air of decadence.
The styling is a masterful blend of nostalgia and modernity, featuring jewelry by Ambush, a sultry see-through dress by Fetico, and a sharply tailored setup from Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki. Every detail celebrates the era’s unapologetic luxury while nodding to contemporary Tokyo’s evolving aesthetic. To complement the visual feast, Ambush’s new sake—a modern twist on Japan’s storied tradition—adds a perfect touch of authenticity and innovation to the story. Through its bold contrasts and vibrant energy, this series captures the timeless allure of Tokyo nights, then and now.
