Thundercat’s unbeatable bass skills and soul-filled vocals have made him a popular musician to collaborate with, working with everyone from Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, and Vic Mensa to Erykah Badu, Kali Uchis, and N.E.R.D. The jazz/funk artist’s most notable collaboration came with a Grammy as Thundercat worked on Kendrick Lamar’s 2016 To Pimp A Butterfly track “These Walls.”

In terms of Thundercat’s solo work, 2017’s Drunk topped R&B charts and received a great deal of critical acclaim. To follow up, he released It Is What It Is today, which sees 15 groovy, dreamy songs. Features on the new album include Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Steve Lacy, and Louis Cole.
