Inspired by the original Bird on a Rock brooch, created in 1965 by Jean Schlumberger, Tiffany Creations continues a legacy of imaginative design with the fine jewelry collection. As the story goes, Schlumberger came across a yellow cockatoo while traveling in Asia and the Caribbean. Thus was born the Bird on a Rock. The first of the brooches was directly inspired by this encounter, a yellow and white bird made out of diamonds stood atop a cabochon lapis lazuli. 

Reimagined by Nathalie Verdeille, the new design places the motif throughout the collection. Two collections imagine the bird as an abstract inspiration: Wings the fine jewelry line and Feathers the high jewelry collection. The new additions to the Bird on a Rock legacy are made from 18k yellow gold with detailed engraving throughout. Set with diamonds the pieces have an element of movement, displaying the artistry of the collection. 

The Wings collection is an abstract take on Schlumberger’s design. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings, and pendants are made with alternating wings of gold and platinum. The Feathers designs recall the original Bird on a Rock which inspire the delicate diamond features. Made from platinum, diamonds, and 18k yellow gold, each design took painstaking lengths to compose with three years in total development. The collection is rounded out with Bird on the Rock high jewelry with bird figurines that have a playful air. They seem to be infused with life, chattering amongst each other. 

The collection exhibits a lengthy history of Tiffany & Co. along with the ongoing inspiration of Schlumberger. It’s a collection of artistry with intricate detailing and exemplary craftsmanship. True to the nature of Tiffany & Co., a brand that commits to the highest quality and thoughtful design.
