Tiffany Haddish Would Like to Host the Oscars in 2019

In what's becoming an annual tradition, the 90th Academy Awards brought together two beloved comedians to present an award, and their presentation was so hysterical that viewers everywhere started to clamor for the duo to take on hosting duties next year. Previous examples of this trend include Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig, along with Wiig and Steve Carell, but this time around, it was Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph who stole America's hearts with their dynamic. And luckily for us, Haddish is up for hosting the show next year — on one condition.

"I would love to do something like that," the Girls Trip sensation revealed at the premiere of Tracy Morgan's new show The Last O.G. at SXSW. "I know my father would be extremely proud if I got to do that… as long as I get a paycheck." While that seems like a given, Haddish's Oscars experience this year has proven otherwise. “In my mind, Maya and I, we were auditioning for the ultimate job – because I thought were getting paid for that presentation,” Haddish joked. “When I found out that we weren’t getting paid, I was like, ‘Well, I heard about gift bags.’ And then it was like ‘We don’t have no gift bags,’ and I was like, ‘Well what do I get?’ They were like, ‘We’ve got a bottle of wine that’s like thirteen dollars.’ So I got the wine.”

Rest assured, if she got the job (the Academy would be smart to give it to her), she would be paid — albeit maybe not much. Jimmy Kimmel was reportedly paid only $15,000 for hosting for the second year in a row. If she would indeed get low pay, at least she wouldn't have to pay for a dress. We would expect nothing less than the re-emergence of her now-legendary white dress.
