Last night NYFW launched in full, starting off with one of the biggest names on the calendar: Tom Ford, who also presented his Fall 2018 menswear collection just days earlier.

Ford transported us back to the 80’s with his fw18 collection. Any and all of your favorite throwbacks from the decade were included—animal prints, oversized jewelry, fur, sequins, neons, and wide headbands. As a game-changer, the newly vegan designer, delivered faux furs and leathers for the first time in the brands history. Stylistically, the looks included classic 80’s flair and signatures such as power suits, leggings paired with oversized coats, and eccentric prints that previously seemed to only belong to the decade of excess.

Ford proudly gave a shout out to feminism and the #MeToo movement by having model Grace Hartzel carry a bag emblazoned with the words “Pussy Power”, and another model with a pair of kitten heels with the same phrase written in rhinestones. He paid homage to Los Angeles, with sweatshirts that read “Tom Ford Beverly Hills” in rhinestones and LL Cool J’s 1987 hip-hop classic, "Going Back to Cali" soundtrack to the strut.

Ford can always be relied upon to bring the excess and sex appeal, and he did not disappoint this season, delivering a runway fit for Rodeo Drive.
