Transporting us to Weimar times, Tom Ford filled the Park Avenue Armory's rafters with the infectiously haunting theme song to Netflix's Babylon Berlin as an opening to his SS19 collection; an obvious gesture towards the dark realities of glamour and it's attractively dangerous tendencies. Looking back at his roots, Ford has created a collection that reads sexy, but exudes beauty, the unending power that initially brought Mr. Ford onto the world's stage.

Every dress or skirt, fitted like a glove, moves with the body of each model making each silhouette crisply attentive. Including sleek skirt suits, dissembled le smoking tuxedos, and '70s inspired sheer cape dresses, this neutrally colored range of womenswear is an overtly modern exploration of timeless sex appeal. Bringing the collection to a satisfying, full circle landing point, Ford has included some expertly tailored menswear complementing and enhancing the world of his SS19 womenswear.

In his show notes, Ford says,“I feel that fashion has somehow lost it’s way a bit and it is easy for all of us to be swept up in trends that have lost touch with what women and men want to actually wear." Analyzing the state of high-fashion in this current moment has never felt more appropriate as creatives and fashion-enthusiasts alike are actively stretching and flexing the definition of modern glamour. Tom Ford is sticking to his guns for this coming Spring/Summer season, and has successfully delivered a collection that is sure to be seen as complimentary to any occasion.
