Tommy Hilfiger headlined New York Fashion Week on the first day with “A New York Moment”. The quintessential American heritage brand debuted their New York-inspired collection in a red, white, and blue star-studded takeover of the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Terminal.

The Fall/Winter ‘24 collection was a well-timed love letter to New York. Taking inspiration from the Big Apple, Hilfiger channeled the city’s unique style as the home of classic American cool and added signature Tommy Hilfiger twists. Tommy takes the spirit of American prep that the brand does so well, and modernizes it with a New York attitude.

Incorporating the continuing tradition of athletic details and casual American sportswear, “A New York Moment” brings a freshness to ’90s preppy classics for both men and women with the rugby shirt, blazer, chinos, coats, mini-dress polos, and varsity jackets. Hilfiger reinvigorates classic brand DNA with modernity, drawing silhouettes from an era of the relaxed codes of wide-leg trousers, relaxed button-downs, and boxy outerwear. Texture plays a big role in New York-ification of classic prep as styles are enriched with corduroys, herringbones, camel wool, amplified checks, earth-toned tweeds, cable knits, and chalky pinstripes as inspiring as the city itself.

The odes to New York City didn’t end there. The all-front row show wove through the famous Oyster Bar, decked out in the brand’s red, white, and blue with hand-illustrated placemats and coasters with New York iconography and a navy carpet that embodied Tommy’s iconic style. Wood-paneled seating added an intimate touch to the winding underground space and pinstripe cushions in a signature pinstripe will be donated to Material For The Arts to give back to the local community. The charming yet exclusive experience felt like fashion’s most fun (not so) secret club.

The front row was highlighted and spotlighted with guests dressed and styled in shoppable Spring ‘24 collections. Tommy Hilfiger Womenswear ambassador Sofia Richie Grainge brought her take on New York classic American cool to the front row, joined by her husband, music producer Elliot Grainge. Damson Idris, Hollywood actor and multi-year Hilfiger Menswear Ambassador also graced the front row at the Oyster Bar. The New York venue saw the elegant presence of Indian actress Sonam Kapoor, Korean film and music icon Junho Lee, Australian fashion star Nicole Warne and Thai music and entertainment sensations Pond Naravit, Phuwin and Win Metawin. Pop culture stars Kelly Rutherford, GloRilla, Central Cee and Nayeon also attended the show alongside new Tommy Family ambassadors Noah Beck, Sabrina Quesada, Jasmine Tookes, Lyndsey Vrckovnik, Sophia Hublitz, Mason Gooding, Justine Skye, Elle Smith, Orion Carloto and Grier Henchy. Special guests included Edison Chen, Mia Regan, Xenia Adonts, Jacob Rott, Adele Exarchopoulos and Ryan Prevedel.
The show brought music from entertainment legend Questlove and Grammy winner Jon Batiste to the runway. Questlove, inspired by the New York theme of the night, curated a journey through the city’s five boroughs. Jon Batiste took time between the Grammy Awards and Las Vegas to serenade the show with a high-energy finale performance of “Freedom”.
