Welcome to Young Miko’s new era. The Puerto Rican rapper is gearing up to release her sophomore album, Do Not Disturb, this Friday, November 7, via Capitol Records. Alongside the album, Miko has started teasing video snippets on Instagram, giving fans a taste of the visual world surrounding her latest chapter. “I’m excited for the world to hear where my head and heart have been at,” she tells V, reflecting on the sonic and creative direction behind the project, which she teases includes sounds that are “completely new” for her. “As a Young Miko fan, they know better than to think I wouldn’t explore other sounds and colors.”

Once a soccer prodigy on Puerto Rico’s Under-20 women’s national team, later a sought-after tattoo artist, and now one of Latin music’s most dynamic voices (with collabs with Latin legends like Bad Bunny, Karol G, Tainy, J Balvin, and Tokischa)—the now 27-year-old rapper and singer is proving she’s only getting started. Following the success of her debut album Att. last year, she released the viral hit “WASSUP”—which sampled Lil Wayne and Static Major’s “Lollipop”—back in April, offering the first glimpse of what was to come. Later, she continued her streak with the release of “Meiomi,” another preview of Do Not Disturb, followed by the latest release of the focus single, “Likey Likey.”

Already a GRAMMY nominee and Coachella performer, Young Miko shows no signs of slowing down. Last month, she joined Billie Eilish as a special guest on select U.S. dates of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, culminating in a high-energy two-night finale in New York. From the stage to backstage, Miko offered V an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes, taking the stage in signature style: a custom Shapes hoodie emblazoned with the words “DO NOT DISTURB,” an Our Legacy belt, and Rock Revival jeans for Saturday’s show; and for the final night on Sunday, a Paly Hollywood tee, Racer Worldwide belt, and Vaquera pants.

Capping off a whirlwind year, the artist recently announced her first-ever headlining concert at the legendary Coliseo de Puerto Rico on December 5, 2025—which sold out instantly, prompting a second date on December 6. The concert marks a milestone for Miko—who was born and raised in Añasco, Puerto Rico—celebrating her remarkable rise from local breakthrough artist to global powerhouse. “I’ve dreamt about having my own show en el Coliseo de Puerto Rico my whole life,” she says. “To actually have it come true and be able to see a sold out announcement is pretty wild to me.”

Below, Young Miko reflects on the making and sound of Do Not Disturb, touring with Billie Eilish, and what fans can expect from her long-awaited homecoming shows. (“I’m not usually one to spoil or tease (lol I’m such a tease) but you guys should for sure stay tuned. <3”)
V: You just wrapped opening for Billie Eilish on tour. What was that experience like for you?
Young Miko: Opening for Billie was truly special. I enjoyed every moment, on and off the stage. I had a bittersweet last two shows since I love touring and was having so much fun, but I also can’t wait for my own shows back home.

V: Your sophomore studio album, Do Not Disturb, drops this November 7th. What does this new era represent for you creatively, and how would you describe the sound or direction you’re exploring this time around?
YM: This album represents a lot of personal growth for me. It was a time of introspection and self-care, a moment I took to listen to myself and to really look within. Sound wise, I do play with many different genres, ones people already familiarize me with and others that are completely new for me. As a Young Miko fan, they know better than to think I wouldn’t explore other sounds and colors. I’m excited for the world to hear where my head and heart have been at.

V: You’ve evolved a lot since your debut. When you look back at your first projects versus Do Not Disturb, what feels different about the artist you are now?
YM: I’m definitely a different person than I was back then, but I still feel the same, does that make sense? I guess I feel grown up, and that there is a lot more emotional depth to me now and I’m enjoying getting to know myself. Looking back at my first projects, I laugh in a wholesome way listening to my younger self just sing her heart out and having fun with her friends in the studio. I do feel nowadays that I take my time more in choosing my words and choosing what I wanna talk about. This project really found me in a deeper moment where I used it to remember why I love what I do and to have fun again, while I was also healing.

V: Your new single ‘Likey Likey’ has already become a fan favorite, with viral dances taking over TikTok. Can you tell us about how the track came together, and should we expect a music video soon?
YM: Likey Likey was a very fun track to make. I worked on it with Amy Allen and my team, which just comes to show us how language is no barrier and we can all speak music and vibes. I’m not usually one to spoil or tease (lol I’m such a tease) but you guys should for sure stay tuned. <3

V: You recently announced and immediately sold out your first-ever headline show at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, and then added a second date. What does it mean to you to bring this next chapter of your career home, and what can fans expect from those nights?
YM: I’ve dreamt about having my own show en el Coliseo de Puerto Rico my whole life, and to actually have it come true and be able to see a sold out announcement is pretty wild to me. This album and era, specifically, I hold pretty close to my heart, it was a moment of self love, and care, and being able to live this at home just feels right. Anyone who is present those two nights, I’m sure will be able to tell how happy I’m gonna be up on that stage; So a lot of energy, dancing, re-visiting songs that made me and a fun time is what people should expect.

V: Will there be surprise guest performers?
YM: No comment (wink wink)
V: We’re heading into the final stretch of the year, what stands out most when you reflect back on it?
YM: Listening to my heart, being patient with myself, and being able to fall into my friends and family will forever mean the world to me. I think that’s what made the most of this year for me. I’m lucky and blessed to be surrounded by people that love and care for me and to be able to create music and do what I love to do with them is truly what makes me feel rich in life. 2025 was a tough one, but man was it special.
