Ukrainian Label MASHAT Unveils ‘Dna’ Collection Made With Electrical Wires

The pieces are made using recycled electrical and telephone spiral wires.

Up and coming Ukrainian fashion label MASHAT recently unveiled their environmentally conscious ‘DNA’ collection. The collection is designed by Tasha Labunskaya and Masha Varfolomeyeva, who based it on their trips between Canada and Ukraine.

Using recycled items such as electrical and telephone spiral wires, the duo have decided to use this collection to raise awareness towards important socio-cultural topics and connect to these issues in a unique way. The result is a collection that was grounded in the concept of connectivity and the power of repurpose.

The designers were inspired by the shape of the telephone wires, which to them resembled DNA strands. The same spiral shape can be found in the detailing for the blazer and turtleneck. It is also found on jeans, a men’s dress-sweater and a translucent stitched blouse.

Below are some of the looks that can be found in the ‘DNA’ collection. The rest of the looks can be found on their website as well as their Instagram
