V Exclusive: Emma Chamberlain Learns About the Evolution of Media Consumption

The YouTube star sat down with V and media expert Lynne Joyrich in the latest episode of “V Wanna Know.”

Over the past several decades, media (and, of course, the way it’s consumed) has changed dramatically – and who better than Emma Chamberlain to confirm that? The YouTube star and coffee mogul saw her life change practically overnight in ways that were unimaginable just 20 years ago.

For the latest episode of V Wanna Know, Chamberlain sat with host Mathias Rosenzweig and Brown University professor Lynne Joyrich to discuss how media has transformed over the years and how this affected the internet sensation herself.

Chamberlain explained that being forced to stay inside because of the Covid-19 pandemic actually pushed her to get more creative with her content. She also opened up about how, while her career is still relatively new and may sound weird or at least unusual to other people, it just feels natural to her.

“Even though I don’t necessarily talk about everything in my life, there are some areas that I’d like to keep off the internet for my own sanity, I still feel like my conversations with the camera can sometimes be vulnerable,” Chamberlain said. “I talk to the camera pretty similarly to the way I talk to my friends.”

In the episode, the group also discussed how digital media has changed the way we interact with each other and with different types of media, including movies and TV, new challenges and opportunities, and why Chamberlain deleted TikTok from her phone.
