V Premiere: LPX, “Give Up The Ghost” Video
The track is LPX’s second single from the new Junk of The Heart EP
Lizzy Plapinger from MS MR a.k.a co-founder of Neon Gold Records (Charli XCX, Marina and The Diamonds, Tove Lo) now has another title to be known as: The artist behind Junk of The Heart, LPX. With an already hectic role list, Plapinger somehow managed to find the time to create her LPX side project as well as a four-track EP Junk of The Heart. One of those songs is the new single and music video Give Up The Ghost, one that perfectly blends her 80s pop influences with classic rock.
The video, which features a car driving out of the city “somewhere upstate” was initially, she thought, not in her budget. Yet after a conversation with director Alex Colby the two decided to make it work however they could.
“[He] called me out of the blue to say how much he loved the song and that as he was riding his bike through the city he saw the video in his head and explained, shot for shot, the VERY dream I had for it from the start. Both somewhat dumbfounded and entirely elated by our SPOT ON collective vision we decided we HAD to make it a reality,” Plapinger said.
And it turned out exactly how they both envisioned it, from the way it wraps around the music’s meaning to the cinematography that compliments the sound.
“I really think we earnestly captured the spirit and forward momentum that’s at the heart of this record. And the iconic and cinematic shots of the city and car while I whip through them windows down, arms out the window, hair in the wind, fully capturing that rush and transition from the city to upstate were all realized!”
