They say the best things come in pairs, and the same could be said for actor and musician Sasha Calle’s experience growing up within the arms of two cities that introduced her to very different yet equally diverse cultures. “Growing up in Boston, I listened to a lot of R&B, soul, and hip hop. But I was also listening to pop music; Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera,” she explains. “When I moved to Colombia, it was all reggaeton. I loved Tego, Wisin y Yandel, R.K.M. y Ken-Y, Don Omar, Zion y Lennox, and of course Calle 13. It’s all super nostalgic for me.” Where does acting come into play? Just consider it an additive bonus that came with her first love: music. “I applied to a performing arts college because I was desperate to understand my voice. But along the way, I got thrown into acting, dance, and stage combat,” she notes. “Acting gave me a whole new way to express myself, and I never looked back.”

Since her pivot to acting, her most notable role as Supergirl in The Flash made history as Calle became the first Latina to wear the “S” on her chest; on-screen, of course. “What mattered to me most was her heart, her strength, her story. That role was bigger than me,” she explains. “It was a step toward showing the world that Latinos are beautiful, strong, complex, and deserve a real seat at the table in Hollywood. We’re here, and we’re not going anywhere.”

Through her work, Calle has worked with many notable greats, including Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck. “Being able to show up on set with an amazing cast and crew is such a gift. Moments that [make me] so grateful I get to do what I do.” With two upcoming projects, starring in Netflix’s highly anticipated crime thriller The Rip–out in January 2026– and appearing in season two of Apple TV+’s Sugar, her performances are sure to keep old and new fans insatiable for more. “Joe Carnahan’s directing is fast and fun, and the whole thing moves at a wild pace. With The Rip, I’d say just have a fucking blast.” Apart from acting, Calle is also currently working on music of her own, set to bless our playlists soon. “With anything I do, I just hope people can connect.”
