V have Lady Gaga’s Golden Globes Full Beauty Breakdown

Get the step-by-step guide to serving Gaga Golden Globes elegance.

Last night was certainly one to remember, especially for V muse, Lady Gaga. We watched her win Best Original Song for “Shallow” in A Star is Born, but, let’s be real here, her beauty team pulled off the real showstopper. We’re just thankful Gaga was sitting near the front of the Globes stage so we could get a glimpse at her artfully-coiffed periwinkle updo and metallic smokey eye every few minutes.

Gaga’s resident hairstylist, the legendary Frederic Aspiras, created the perfect compliment to her marvellous Valentino couture gown. Luckily, V have the step-by-step technique that was used to give our platinum goddess her sky-blue metamorphosis using Joico and ghd products. Her makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, used Marc Jacobs Beauty products, available at Sephora, to incorporate some dark drama into her look. “She loved the idea of incorporating the color of the dress into her hair and makeup. She wanted to feel like Lady Gaga,” said Tanno. Read on for the full breakdown of the hair and makeup!

Hair:

Aspiras used Joico Blonde Life Powder Lightener to create the brilliant blonde. He then used Joico Color Intensity in Sky and Rose mixed with the Clear Mixer to create Cerulean Blue. For styling, he used Joico Blonde Life Brightening Veil throughout. He then combed through the hair with the ghd detangling comb. Next, he used a ghd natural bristle radial brush size 1 and ghd air® hair dryer on High heat and med speed to dry the hair. He ran the ghd platinum+ styler throughout the hair to create a smooth finish and sprayed Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher throughout and used a ghd oval dressing brush to sweep the hair up into ponytail. Her hair was then wrapped and twisted hair into a half bun, leaving the end of the hair out and parted to each side of her head. Aspiras then wrapped the ends of the hair around the ghd curve® soft curl iron to create long lasting curl and finished by spraying Joico Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray.

Makeup:

To get the stormy purple eye look, Sarah used Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow in Frivoluxe ($49), and blended the shades “Dress”, a frosty plum, and “How You Want”, a deep purple, up and out to create layers of smoke. She then blended Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in “Blacquer” ($25) along the lash line, followed by See-Quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow in “Flashlight” ($28), an icy opal, to add some glamour and give the liner a frosty finish. Sarah finished Gaga’s eyes with her go-to finishing touch – Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26) – on the top and bottom lashes.
