V-ISITS: CitizenM Paris Champs–Élysées

The secret to surviving Paris Fashion Week? A smart stay that keeps pace with the city’s most fashionable marathon
Traveling to Paris is undoubtedly a treat for anybody—especially during fashion week, a blissfully chaotic seven-day marathon of nonstop runway shows, one-of-a-kind dinner experiences, and showroom visits that ultimately shape what the season ahead will look and feel like, both within the pages of our magazine and on the streets of fashion capitals around the globe. Upon my arrival in Paris, fresh off the plane, I was greeted by my driver, who was not only thrilled to welcome me back to the City of Light, but equally eager to warn me about the record-breaking heatwave I was moments away from enduring. Suitcases, sunglasses, and a travel fan in tow, nothing could have prepared me for what would become one of the hottest weeks in Paris’s history—and just like that, my Paris Fashion Week Men’s adventure was underway.

Thankfully, the heat didn’t remain the star of the show for long. CitizenM Paris Champs-Élysées was perfectly positioned in the heart of the action and tucked alongside one of fashion’s most coveted shopping streets. Just beyond the Arc de Triomphe, a quick five-minute drive down the Champs-Élysées delivered me to the property’s front doors—and, more importantly, into a blast of gloriously air-conditioned relief. With only about 10 minutes before I needed to jump back into a car for a marathon day of runway hopping (and heat dodging), the seamless check-in process felt like its own luxury. The contemporary art-filled lobby, equal parts hotel and stylish hangout, buzzed with energy as a guest service attendant guided me through every step—from check-in to key card setup—while my luggage was whisked away to my room. Just a few hours later, I returned to a chic, thoughtfully designed space, complete with a cool breeze, an XL king bed calling my name, and the rest of my Fashion Week invitations waiting patiently on the desk (because sometimes, the best accessory is a power nap).

The best part of the room? Beyond its smart layout—which somehow fit generous wardrobe storage, a work desk, a full-length mirror (a true Fashion Week luxury), and a cleverly tucked-away bathroom and sleeping area—it was the level of control. A bedside iPad became my new favorite roommate, allowing me to lower the room temperature (cooler, s’il vous plaît), dim the lights, stream the wide-screen television, and raise or lower the blinds with the tap of a finger. Each morning, they opened to reveal the iconic Galeries Lafayette department store outside my window—consider it the chicest wake-up call Paris has to offer.

Equal parts modern and effortlessly smart, it quickly became clear I wasn’t the only one who got the memo on CitizenM. Locals, editors, buyers, and international travelers alike treated the hotel as their unofficial headquarters—for meetings, cocktails, coffee breaks, and everything in between. Between the leafy courtyard, the fastest Wi-Fi I experienced all week, and a rooftop bar with Eiffel Tower views that doubled as the perfect reset between shows, it became my own Fashion Week sanctuary. Whether I was hopping on a conference call with my team back in New York, racing in for an outfit change, or making a quick glam pit stop before an after-party, I could come and go with ease—without anyone batting an impeccably mascaraed eye.

When Fashion Week turns Paris into a city in constant motion, citizenM keeps pace. Equal parts stylish headquarters and welcome retreat, it’s the kind of place that lets you focus less on logistics and more on chasing the next unforgettable moment. For anyone looking to stay in the center of the action without sacrificing smart design, seamless convenience, or a moment to recharge, consider citizenM as the next Fashion Week’s best-kept address.
