V PREMIERE: Shy Martin Returns With “Out Of My Hands”

V EXCLUSIVE: Video premiere of Shy Martin’s first single for the year, “Out of My Hands.”

With her 2016 hit single “The Ocean,” Shy Martin crested the international pop airwaves, riding into the number-one spot on Spotify Sweden’s year-end charts with 550 million streams. But rather than take center-stage, Martin, born Sara Hjellström, leveraged her success by taking a behind-the-scenes course behooving her introvert-friendly stage name.

But in 2018, after penning hits for the likes of Bebe Rexha, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne and The Chainsmokers, Martin re-emerged from behind the curtain, releasing her bop-packed debut EP, “Overthinking.” Shy no more, she has proved she has the voice to back-up her highly sought-after writing-chops—and has no qualms about performing on a global stage, quite literally; in 2017 she performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, an internationally renowned celebration of strides in diplomatic and philanthropic endeavors.

Shy Martin’s first 2019 endeavor is “Out Of My Hands,” a cautionary tale of a destructive love affair. Between finishing up the last leg of her European tour, the 25-year-old Swedish singer shared with V in an email just how hard it is to leave destructive yet addicting relationships. “When you’ve been in a relationship for a long time it’s easier and less painful to stay in it, rather than leave it behind,” she says. “It’s so hard at the time to know who you are without the other person. I think that’s the reason why people tend to romanticize destructive relationships, and why it’s so easy to fall right back into them.” Check the premiere out below!
